I’m Saskia, owner of Studio1213. Trained at the Royal School of Needlework, I design and create bespoke, colourful interior accessories and embroidery pieces by hand using traditional practices and methods. My tassels are hand-wound to order, and braids are woven on a loom. It is important to me to make use of natural materials that have been responsibly sourced and manufactured wherever possible in my work, and to support other makers and craftspeople in the process.

I am keen to help ensure that heritage craft techniques don’t die out and continue to be relevant in the contemporary era. Passamenterie – the art of making tassels, braid and cord – is on the Craft Heritage Endangered Crafts List and practitioners such as myself are increasingly rare.
