Hugo Brijs 

(pronounced “Bryce”)

is an award-

winning composer,

producer, artist and

musical director.

Brijs composed the score for “Pretty Red Dress” (BBC Film/BFI), the critically acclaimed first feature from writer/director Dionne Edwards. Having premiered at the opening weekend of the BFI London Film Festival 2022, the film was released in 2023 and has been featured on Rolling Stone, The Guardian and Vanity Fair’s best films of 2023. Brijs also worked as Musical Director, coordinating the live performances of Tina Turner tracks and collaborating with British singer Alexandra Burke in her first screen role.

Alongside his compositions, Brijs releases music as a recording artist. His 2021 album “Glitra” has clocked up 10 million streams with a succession of major New Music Friday placements from Spotify. Described as a “kaleidoscopic indie-blockbuster” by the NME’s Andrew Trendell, the record was met with acclaim from music press including Wonderland and Clash Magazine, and also garnered support on BBC Radio 1 from Huw Stephens and Jack Saunders. 

As a producer and songwriter Brijs has worked with artists including Will Joseph Cook, Ed Nash (Bombay Bicycle Club), GIRLI, Denai Moore and Luna Morgernstern.

Brijs is currently working on the Film4/BFI feature film “Surviving Earth” directed by Thea Gajić due for release in 2024. He has also recently finished as Musical Director on the hit TV drama "Champion" (BBC / Netflix) written by Candice Carty-Williams.
